The “visa exemption for Iraqi citizens” decision, which was announced to the public after the military memorandum of understanding was signed by the defense ministers of Turkey and Iraq on August 15, was published in Official Gazette dated 28.08.2024.
Accordingly, starting from September 1, Iraqis under the age of 15 and over the age of 50 will be granted visa exemption to enter Turkey.
According to the Presidential Decree, “Citizens of the Republic of Iraq who are under the age of 15 and over the age of 50 and who hold an ordinary passport will be exempt from visas for their touristic trips and transit passages to Turkey with a maximum residence period of 90 days within 180 days.”
The exemption decision, which will come into effect on September 1, was taken in accordance with Article 18 of the Foreigners and International Protection Law No. 6458.
